Flanked by wildlife sanctuaries and a national park, Coorg resounds with the calls of over 350 species of birds, offering up majestic bird-watching tours, and is the birthplace of the gushing, life-giving Kaveri river. It boasts of its own language, Kodava Takk, and its own distinct culture within the larger Kannada paradigm. The region is popular for its huge coffee plantations.

After a delectable Coorgi lunch, take a ride into the expansive coffee plantations, surrounded by serenity and quiet. Later, visit a coffee factory and explore how the coffee makes its journey from the bean to the store.

Begin with an early morning refreshing bird-watching walk around the plantation. You can drive to Madikeri where you can visit the Hindu temple of Omkareshwar which is interestingly built in the Muslim style and looks more like a mosque. Legend has it that the king of the region had the temple built to atone for the sin of unjustly putting a Brahmin to death. You can head to Talakaveri, a short drive from Madikeri. It is revered as a holy place because it is the source of the Kaveri River. You can head to the scenic view point of Rajas Seat, the best known place in Kodagu to watch the setting sun.
