Journey with us to discover the ethnic fabrics and their graceful royalty as you travel to Rajasthan and the northern plains. Traditional clothing in India varies every few hundred miles and Rajasthan is home to some of the most colorful and exotic clothing and fabrics. This pathway will take you into the depths of Rajasthan’s sandy wilderness and unleash the vibrant colors of the fabrics of the region.
The journey begins in the national capital, Delhi and heads straight to the hand block-printing capital, Jaipur. Discover the ethnic textile centers around Jaipur in Sanganer and Bagru. The path will then meander into the desert to Jodhpur and then emerge out of the Aravalli Mountains in Udaipur. A colorful sojourn into northern India exploring its textiles.
- Visit the National Handicrafts and Handlooms Museum in Delhi and get a preliminary look at the textile crafts from across the country
- Explore some of the time-tested techniques of hand block printing at the Anokhi Museum in Jaipur
- Witness natural colors being extracted from vegetables and flowers at Bagru Industrial Area near Jaipur
- Visit a village near Jodhpur that specializes in the fabulously colorful Bandhini fabrics
