It was built in 1835 to be the home to the queen’s favourite handmaidens, changed into a royal guesthouse and hunting lodge, and finally became the residence of the Maharaja Sawai Mansingh II and his queen Maharani Gayatri Devi.
The Rambagh Palace is synonymous with royalty and luxury. The hotel is open to guests and has seventy-six restored rooms and a grand suite which bears the charm of a Maharaja’s life. The palace complex overflows with glory and splendour, decorated with geometric latticework or jaalis, accompanied by sandstone balustrades, cupolas and cenotaphs, and elaborate Mughal gardens.
