The hotel follows the philosophy of Heritage Renaissance, a process that involves dissembling and reassembling a heritage building by extracting and transplanting it stone by stone, pillar by pillar at a new site, entirely different in context, giving way to innovative ideas and design concepts.
Every bit of Fateh Garh was originally part of a palace and has been restructured and reused to preserve its cultural and spiritual heritage. The hotel uses century-old materials which have stood the test of time and has been designed to create minimal impact on the environment.
The hotel pays respect to the five elements of air, water, fire, wind, and space by ingenious methods; a windmill harnesses energy from the winds and illuminates the common places of the resort; solar panels provide hot water to guests while solar lights and cookers also take care of miscellaneous energy requirements; an extensive water harvesting plan conserves half a million litres of water from only an inch of rainfall; use of plastic is discouraged; the hotel construction has taken into account the ancient practice of Vaastu which facilitates the wind and the sun to control ambient temperatures, thereby reducing air-conditioning. Besides, the hotel employs locals, giving them a chance to preserve their tradition and culture by incorporating their age-old practices for hospitality.
